Solution
The applications are handled through the Environmental Protection Agency’s self-service portal. The applications are then screened. Regarding lakes, only projects relating to 24 targeted lakes are eligible. For streams, projects have to improve the passage and spawning for fish and protect flora. Eligible applications are then prioritized based on their cost effectiveness.
Approvals and rejections are sent out based on the prioritization. For selected projects the case management continues to makes sure that the project is concluded within the timeframe given.
Results
With this solution, the EPA can ensure the same case flow and guiding principles across different grants schemes. When the base model is in place, it becomes easy to adapt to yearly adjustments to the new call for applications. This allows at the same time for agile grant management and very secure and accountable administrative practices.
