The challenge

Ensuring fair and efficient distribution of financial assistance

In response to the sharp rise in energy prices and inflation in 2022,the Danish government sought to provide immediate financial assistance to the most affected citizens. However, inconsistencies in central registry data posed a challenge to automating payments, requiring an agile and transparent application-based solution to ensure funds reached eligible recipients efficiently.

The Danish government needed a solution to distribute financial assistance quickly while ensuring accuracy and transparency. Issues in registry data prevented fully automated payments, necessitating an agile application-based process. The system had to validate claims efficiently, categorize applications for pre-approval or manual review, and integrate seamlessly with government payment systems—all while minimizing administrative burden and avoiding fraudulent claims.

The solution

Rapid implementation of an automated financial assistance system

The Danish Energy Agency implemented a digital process solution based on cBrain’s configurable Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) platform for government, F2. The solution streamlined the application processing, automated case handling, facilitated payouts and enabled mass-scale financial assistance distribution with accountability and efficiency.

By leveraging cBrain’s configurable COTS software for government, the solution ensured rapid deployment, high configurability, and seamless integration with existing financial infrastructure. The automation of mass operations reduced manual workload, while structured workflows and compliance mechanisms increased efficiency and accountability in distribution of financial assistance.

The result

Rapid implementation, fast processing and enhanced accountability

With F2, the Danish Energy Agency successfully distributed financial assistance within weeks, ensuring fast relief for eligible recipients. Automated processing significantly reduced manual case handling, increasing efficiency while maintaining compliance checks.

By replacing labor-intensive processes with a COTS-based digital process, the solution improved transparency and minimized errors. The transition from fragmented data handling to a digitally integrated platform enabled the Danish government to streamline distribution of financial assistance and ensure equitable access to the assistance programs.
