Sustainable farming and land use
Agriculture, forestry, and other change in land use accounts for almost 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Growing populations gives rise to food demand leading to unsustainable farming, destruction of nature, and deforestation. So-called wetlands, where water meets land, are only 3% of the Earth’s surface, but contain twice as much carbon as all the world’s forests. Restoring wetlands is one of the most apt solutions across the planet to sequestering rather than emitting greenhouse gases from land use.
